This dual set, simultaneously published, represent’s the first collection of cult author Simon Sellars’s writing.

“Sellars’s fiction is a cyberpunk punch straight to the groin. There is no way to classify his tales full of futuristic slang, sadistic humour and strange alien viruses.”

—Holobionte

Love Is a Totalitarian State

Love Is a Totalitarian State brings together 30 years of Sellars’s short fiction. The collection includes 30 pieces, some unpublished (including prototype sketches for his novels Applied Ballardianism: Memoir From a Parallel Universe and Code Beast), plus ‘Love Is a Totalitarian State that Grows Deep Inside Me’, which lends its title to the collection and is the first of his stories set in the Vexworld, an augmented-reality hell.

Theory-Fiction Is a Scam

Theory-Fiction Is a Scam brings together 30 years of Sellars’s non-fiction. It mixes travel writing with academic essays;  articles with interviews; reviews with provocations. Topics include architecture and urbanism; surveillance culture; artificial intelligence; sound design; film; autonomous cars; and Sellars’s animating spirit guide, J.G. Ballard. The collection also includes the theory-fiction that made Sellars’s name, works that blend fact with fiction in order to comment on the hemorrhaging nature of consensus reality: experiments culminating in the grand design of Applied Ballardianism: Memoir From a Parallel Universe
